This Week in Malta: Buckets, Bikinis and Bathroom Breaks
Monday 18th: As the photo above shows, Maltese people are learning to embrace the sun's natural energy. Perhaps it's better to rely on the sun to toast your bread, given the recent woes related to the energy grid.
Tuesday: Speaking of which... those residents worst affected by last weeks blackout are being offered €25 off their bills in compensation for enduring 12 hours straight without electricity.

This Week in Malta: Book Thieves and Burglaries
Saturday: Ten thousand books have not been returned to the library of the University of Malta. And people say that kids today don't read books any more?
Sunday: An elderly couple in Sliema had their front door burned by an unknown miscreant. This door burning business goes on quite a lot in Malta for some reason, I really don't know why. And in this case, neither do the unfortunate older couple. Perhaps a misplaced act of vengance for some perceived slight, and the wrong door got in the way.

This Week in Malta: Seaweed and Sick Days
Saturday (Aug 2): A 400-year-old statue of St Ursula has been returned to Gozo from Malta, after getting a bit of a face-lift. I am sure she's glad to be back.
Sunday: Maltese 'dental leaders' (an expression I have never heard before) have come out to diss the children of Malta. 'Children's teeth are terrible' they say, due to all the sugary stuff they consume all the time. So probably a good place to be a dentist then: Quit your complaining, Dentists.

This Week in Malta: Confused Residents and Non-Chinese Shoes
Saturday (July 26): Maltese nationals are being flown out of Libya on special flights. Seems like things are not improving in that part of the world.
Sunday: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have paid thousands of euros to rent a beach kiosk in Mgarr, so they can have a bit of Brangelina time without getting hassled by Joe Public. If you guys are looking for an apartment in the St Paul's Bay area, just give me a shout. We accept card payments and Western Union transfers, and I thought you guys were great in Mr and Mrs Smith.
